CarPlay and Siri: ask Buddy without touching the phone

On iOS 26, Musse Buddy can appear on the CarPlay Dashboard as a small widget with three quick actions. Talking goes through Siri, so your hands stay on the wheel. The same Siri phrases work with AirPods, the Shortcuts app and Apple Watch, wherever Siri is available.

How does Musse Buddy work in CarPlay?

iOS 26 lets a small widget from your iPhone appear on the CarPlay Dashboard. Musse Buddy provides one. It shows your buddy and the last mission or the next reminder, and its three buttons each create a mission when tapped. Talking is not done on the screen. You press the steering-wheel voice button and use Siri.

The widget needs iOS 26 and a car whose CarPlay shows widgets. Not every car does, so check yours before blaming the app. The CarPlay widgets guide has a checklist.

How does Musse Buddy work in CarPlay?

How do I add it to the Dashboard?

  1. Connect the iPhone to the car and open the CarPlay Dashboard.
  2. Long-press the dashboard and choose Edit widgets.
  3. Add Musse Buddy. It is the small square widget.
  4. In the app, open Me, then CarPlay, to choose the three quick actions you want.

What are the quick actions?

The app offers six: Reminder, Note, Call, Message, Errand and Plan. You pick three for the car. Each tap creates a mission tagged from CarPlay, so you can see later that it started in the car.

What can I say to Siri?

Buddy ships Siri phrases that work without opening the app. The app lists these three patterns, where the name is your buddy's name:

  • "Tell Buddy to …" for a new mission
  • "Ask Buddy what's in progress" for a status update
  • "Buddy, remind me …" for a reminder

Press the wheel button and say, "Hey Siri, tell Buddy to text Anna I'm ten minutes late." Buddy creates a message mission. Because messages are never sent without you, it prepares the draft and waits for your OK before anything is sent. Safe use of any phone while driving is your responsibility, and local laws apply.

What if my car does not show widgets?

Then the Dashboard widget will not appear, and the Siri phrases are your route. Press the wheel button, or say "Hey Siri" if your setup supports it, and speak the request. The mission still lands in the app with a tag showing it came from Siri, and you can review it when you park.

Is it safe to use while driving?

The design aims at as little attention as possible: three big buttons and voice. Still, your attention belongs to the road. Use the quick actions only when it is safe and legal in your area, and leave reviewing drafts until you are parked.

Where do the Siri phrases live?

They are already in the Shortcuts app on your iPhone after you install Musse Buddy. The Siri screen in the app has an Open Shortcuts button. You can use them from AirPods, CarPlay and Apple Watch, according to the app, as long as Siri works on that device. Pair this with widgets for the Lock Screen.

Frequently asked questions

Does Musse Buddy work with CarPlay on older iOS?

The Dashboard widget needs iOS 26. Siri phrases do not depend on that and work wherever Siri does.

Why don't I see the widget in my car?

Your car's CarPlay must show widgets, and you must add Musse Buddy through Edit widgets on the Dashboard. See the CarPlay widgets guide.

Can Buddy send a text while I drive?

Buddy prepares the message and waits for your confirmation. It never sends without it.

Do I have to open the app first?

No. Siri phrases and the Dashboard quick actions create missions without opening the app.
